Ska icons, Bad Manners and The Selecter, are to hit Benidorm on Sunday 13th November for the biggest Ska Fiesta the resort will have ever seen!
The event coincides with the massive Benidorm fiestas, and appearing alongside Bad Manners and The Selecter will be One Step Behind, the UK's number 1 Madness tribute band, as well as local bands including Benidorm's own Carnaby Street, and Madrid´s The Skarlatines. The organisers expect to attract ska fans from the UK as well as many expats and different nationalities from the Comunidad Valencia. The Sunday spectacular kicks off at 6pm inside one of Benidorm's largest indoor venues, KM Dance club with a capacity 2000(Avenida de la Comunidad Valenciana, located on the N332 towards the outskirts of Benidorm).
The Ska Fiesta is hosted by a consortium of business minds: KM Dance, D&N Promotions and Ultimate Stag. Dillon of D&N says: "Everyone loves Buster Bloodvessel of Bad Manners and The Selecter, and they're perfect for the Benidorm audience." Presales for the event, both here and in the UK, are high, and special excursion packages have been set up with tour operators and scooter clubs around Europe.
KM Dance was recently refurbished to incorporate major mainstream bands. It is now the venue for live music in Benidorm. Book tickets for the Ska Fiesta from www.ticketmaster.es or phone 00 34 665 418 885, or info at email@example.com. Ticket price 22euros or 28euros on the door.
GREAT WESTERN ITALIAN DAY
Sunday September 11th 2011
From the great team that brings you the Bristol Italian AutoMoto Festival (BIAMF), We are pleased to announce the dates for the Great Western Italian Day (GWID).
Originally started back in 2007 as the Great Western Alfa Day, this has now progressed into an open (Cars, Motorcycles, Scooters, even bicycles if you want - would love to see a Ducati Bianchi) Italian Day.
The 2011 GWID returns to a location which we last used in 2007 for a Great Western Alfa Day, the historic Gloucester Docks.
We will again have the opportunity to display a good number of vehicles on the quayside at the dockhead, with later arrivals parking just on the other side of the building behind the display. And with the expansion to an Italian Day brings with it all the delights of the motoring world with Motorcycles as well as Cars, everything from Classic Ferraris to brand new Ducati Desmosedicis - so if you have some Italian Exotica please feel free to bring it along!
While the Italian delights on display will be a the main attraction for many, this area has undergone much improvement since we were last there and so has much more to offer.
As well as the pleasant location itself there is an adjacent pub which also serves food along with various other eating places, the Gloucester Quays designer outlet, the Antiques Centre, the Mariners Chapel, the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum and the Gloucester Waterways Museum. For details of these and more attractions, please click here. The town centre is also within walking distance, including the spectacular cathedral.
Head for the North Warehouse, Commercial Road, Gloucester (Post Code GL1 2EP), which is opposite Barbican Road. See you there!

Richard Jobson, former front man with Scottish new-wave punk band Skids, has reportedly signed on to direct a 'long-awaited' sequel to Quadrophenia. How much backing there will be behind the project is unknown, but in 2009 Pete Townshend, when asked about a sequel, was quoted as saying “If it happens it will have very little to do with me,” and that “Jimmy - in my mind - never went over the cliff with the scooter he had stolen from Ace Face, but I didn’t fancy his chances of survival if he hung around in Britain. In the album version I don’t even know if he got off the rock."
Of course anyone who's paid attention to the original film, and I'll wager that's a fair few of you, will know that the opening sequence in which Jimmy walks towards the camera with the sun setting behind him, is actually a flash-forward to the end of the film, and that he is walking away from the cliff after sending the scooter over. "Did he or didn't he?" arguments therefore are utterly irrelevant.
What will be interesting to see however, is if this sequel actually gets a similar launch, or if it's just someone thinking out loud after watching the scooter scenes in the Brighton Rock remake. Time will tell.

Who needs the 2012 Olympics when we have our very own Vespa World Days 2012 in London! The Vespa Club of Britain, who celebrates it's 60th year, has been organising the Eurovespa event since 2007 and will be stepping up a gear this year.
Vespa PX Scooter Returns
An unbelievable U-turn by Piaggio looks set to see the return of the Vespa PX.
For ecological (and possibly commercial) reasons the PX was discontinued a couple of years ago, for Piaggio to concentrate on its range of 4-stroke automatics. But now re-launched, the PX was shown off recently at the Milan Motorcycle Show looking largely unchanged from older models. It seems that only a few minor cosmetic enhancements have been made, with the standard PX 4-speed, 2-stroke 125cc engine and hand gear shift still present.
Pricing has yet to be revealed, but it is understood the PX will be available from April 2011. More details when we have them.
The remake of Grahame Green's classic 1939 novel Brighton Rock will have its UK cinema release next year on the 4th of February. It stars Sam Riley (Control), Helen Mirren, John Hurt, Andy Serkis and Quad favourite Phil Davies, not to mention many of our chums and their classic scooters - so keep your eyes peeled for a screening near you.

Released on Project Records, November 22nd 2010
Cheshire three-piece The Targets release their debut single Wake Up on November 22th on CD and download via Project Records.
Wake Up comes off the back of extensive UK and overseas touring, and features a Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Pixies) remix. The track's massive, über-catchy chorus pays immediate homage to the likes of 70s punk pioneers The Buzzcocks and The Jam. But there is a contemporary message behind the mayhem too -- which has prompted some to dub The Targets' uncompromising style as 'iMod for the 21st century' .
The band -- Conrad Ellis (guitar), Jess Whitmore (drums) and bassist Sam Bell (who played George Harrison in the acclaimed John Lennon bio-pic movie Nowhere Boy) -- have been together since they were 13 years old, shouting their brand of loud, angst-driven guitar rock from the rafters of any teenage lad's headspace.
A video for Wake Up (also starring Jay Johnson from the Nowhere Boy cast) is due on November 22nd and reflects The Targets' earliest days when they were too young to perform in pubs or clubs and so had to cut their teeth and build their following playing private houseparties.
It will be preceded by two 'making-of' documentaries aired on YouTube.
The Targets have another full tour of Canada planned for the Winter and will shortly be announcing a UK tour to coincide with the release of Wake Up.
